SinergiQ, key for the success of the Sonar+D Startup Garden

As it happened on 2015, SinergiQ made a significant contribution to the success of the Startup Garden by Ricoh, one of the most important and innovative events in Sónar+D, the International Congress of Digital Culture and Creative Technologies, held in Barcelona on 16, 17 and 18 June at the same time as the Electronic Music Festival Sonar. More than 4,500 professionals of creative industries from 50 countries participated in more than 150 activities.

For three days, 30 30 outstanding startups in the creative industries, which were selected after an international call for entries,  met at Sónar+D to show their projects to an accumulated audience of 50,000 people at Startup Garden.

The startups took mentoring sessions by 30 renowned VC, accelerators and incubators. Besides, the top 10 startups entered the Startup Competition. The winners were Japanese project Kagura (www.kagura.cc), the Swedish Mind Music Labs (www.mindmusiclabs.com) and the Americans Cross Fader (www.crossfader.fm). The Spanish project Openshoes (https://theopenshoes.org) won the Ricoh Prize.

Music, virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, Internet of things, wearables, digital making, hardware, blockchain, cinema and advertising excel in these chosen apps, platforms and devices.

A total of 46 investment funds, accelerators, business angels, and both national and international institutions will be present at Startup Garden in a series of activities, such as Mangrove Capital Partner, 360 Capital Partners, Workday Ventures, Sushi VC, Edition Capital, Telefónica Ventures, Numa, and Wayra. SinergiQ has also coordinated the presence of Business France with a delegation of French 8 startups.

SinergiQ has a key role in the success of “La Barcelona de les Solucions”

La Barcelona de les Solucions (http://barcelonasolucions.org/), an original event from Asociacion En Positivo was held in Barcelona’s CaixaForum for the very first edition on May 26. It consisted of a series of panels taking place all day long.

More than 40 speakers coming from the fields of business, education, technology, culture, education, welfare and charity came to introduce new projects and concepts developed in Barcelona and aimed to provide new solutions to local and global problems. The event was meant to provide those projects the public relevance that so often they are not able to collect by themselves.

The panels were completed with performances, ranging cultural, creativity and meditational issues and concluded with a debate on the role of mass media in spreading constructive news.

SinergiQ was responsible to direct the official program of the event. Personalities such as Gilles Vanderpooten (Reporters d’Espoirs), the Spanish journalists Xavier Vidal Folch, Enric Sierra, Lluis Foix and Elisenda Camps, the weather man Tomas Molina and representatives from various projects, amongst them: Starlab Barcelona, Fundació Vicki Bernadet, Escuela Social Ana Bella or Proactiva Open Arms, the “Catalan of the Year” winner Oscar Camps.

Prestigious entities such as Obra Social de La Caixa, Barcelona City Council, ESADE, La Vanguardia, Deloitte and the Futbol Club Barcelona Foundation endorsed the vent together with other relevant organizations.

SinergiQ helped two Spanish Start-Ups to go to Silicon Valley

As Ambassador for LeWeb and for HandsOn.TV in Spain, SinergiQ played a great role in the organization of the Barcelona Final of the 2015 European HandsOn StartUp Competition.

Signaturit and TutoToons, two of the Startups that pitched in Barcelona were chosen to represent Spain in the Paris Final. There both were awarded among the 16 European Finalists with a one-week trip to Sillicon Valley in February 2016.

To sum up: On Nov 19th Barcelona held the Spanish stage of the European HandsOn StartUp Competition. Eight projects were pre-selected and made their pitches in front of a hundred people:

Each one of the projects were evaluated by a jury integrated by David Schwarz (responsible for Carrefour’s Europe e-Commerce), Scott Mackin (Founder, Barcinno), Susana Tintoré (CEO, Barcelona Activa) Alex d’Espona Flaquer (President of the Business Angels Network of Catalonia) and Alain Arnaud (Partner at Avet Ventures).

After the Welcoming Word by Pedro Ralda on behalf of SinergiQ, the Master of Ceremony Rodrigo Barros (HandsOn.Tv founder) started an interview with Marcos Martin (Menorca Millennials co-founder) invited as guest speaker.

 

Signaturit and Tuto Toons were selected to go to the Paris Final on November 26, together with other 14 finalists coming from the rest of Europe. Eight of these projects (included the Spanish) were finally awarded with a great Price: one week-trip to Silicon Valley all costs paid!

The 2015 Carlos Güell Corporate Partnership and Philanthropy Awards (XXII Edition)

On October 7th, the “ Círculo de Economia awarded the most prestigious Prizes in Spain on Corporate Partnership and Philantropy,  the “Carlos Güell Awards” to DKV Seguros, Fundación Bancaria La Caixa, Gas Natural Fenosa, and Grupo CIMD for their outstanding performance in corporate sponsorship.

The ceremony took place in Madrid and it was the final act of a long list of events in which Pedro Ralda, as a Secretary of the Jury, helped by the SinergiQ team, coordinated the works of the jury, promoted the Awards amongst relevant corporations and managed all the candidatures dossiers. Furthermore SinergiQ helped in the analysis of each one and submitted a short list of the most outstanding candidates to the Jury during a meeting on April 29th to decide the winners.

In Madrid, Pedro Ralda performed as Master of Ceremonies and had to read the Official Jury Verdict on the prize-winners. Many relevant personalities such as Antonio Brufau (Chairman of Repsol), Antonio Garrigues Walker (Honorary President of Garrigues) or Amadeo Petitbo (General Director of the Rafael del Pino Foundation and former President of the Spanish High Court for the Defense of Market Competition) were present.

SinergiQ facilitated the gathering of start-ups and investors at Sonar+D

SinergiQ collaborated in the organization and hosting of the “Meet the Investor” activity, held during Sónar+D in Barcelona, on June 18-19.

By the first time at Sónar+D, the companies participating in the Start-up Competition as well as the registered entrepreneurs were able to meet 24 renowned investors to present their projects.

The activity consisted of several speed-meetings of 3 minutes each, where entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to explain their projects in an elevator-pitch style, asking the support of the possible investors.

International and Spanish business angels, venture capital, incubators and accelerators were part of the 24 invited investors.

Buenos Aires successfully hosted the Annual Meeting of Metropolis

SinergiQ advised and accompanied the International Secretariat of Metropolis, the world association of major cities, during their Annual Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on May 18-21

The debates included issues related to innovation, social inclusion and sustainability. The Mayors of Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Berlin, Montreal, Porto Alegre, Santiago de Chile and Seoul, as well as the President of the International Federation of Basketball (FIBA) were some of the key speakers.

During the Meeting a special celebration at a Tango Show venue was organized for The Metropolis 30th Anniversary.

Investors’ Corner, a success story during the 3rd Madrid’s Zinc Shower

The Investors’ Corner, an activity coordinated together by SinergiQ and YouNoodle, was perceived as one of the most interesting and powerful of all the events held at the third edition of Zinc Shower, in Madrid on 8-9 May.

Zinc Shower is an event devoted to the creative and collaborative economy. Its annual meeting brings together entrepreneurs and outstanding projects and, for the first time this year, investors were invited too.

50 of the most important Spanish and international investors have attended the Investors’ Corner, a speed-dating activity where over 100 start-ups presented their innovative projects.

The successful numbers of attendees and the high quality of the discussed projects will allow the Zinc Shower organizers to position the Investor Corner as one of the reference meetings in Spain for innovative projects.
